ESPN 100.9-FM Adds “Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave” to Lineup

MIDLAND, Mich. – More local sports talk is on the way with ESPN 100.9-FM (WLUN) as Michigan Media Network-syndicated Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave hosted by Matt Shepard will begin airing weekdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, July 2nd.

Shepard has been seen on Fox Sports Detroit since 1999 hosting and reporting on the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Lions. The Central Michigan University graduate previously hosted a morning show on 1130 AM WDFN in Detroit for 13 years before relaunching it last November. He also currently serves as the radio voice of Michigan basketball and Eastern Michigan football.

“Giving our listeners more local content is always a topic of conversation within our walls and adding a guy like Matt Shepard to our lineup is going to help us achieve that,” ESPN 100.9-FM General Manager Matt DeVries said. “He brings nearly two decades of experience covering the teams we all care about in this state. And with his show airing in the early afternoon, we’ll now have local sports talk for six hours each day.”

The program will join The Huge Show, hosted by Bill Simonson, to form a six-hour block of programming from lunchtime through afternoon drive that focuses on the big four Detroit sports teams, Michigan, Michigan State and other statewide sports topics.

“I’m really excited to connect with the really knowledgeable and passionate sports fans in Detroit once again, and look forward to the challenge of growing the show to many more markets across Michigan,” Shepard said in a statement in November 2017 after his show was renewed on WDFN.

“It will have my kind of talk show format. While some shows focus on politics, or entertainment… I like talking sports. I know Michigan sports and this show will be the perfect place for listeners to have that discussion. I want to interact with the fans and let them express their feelings, fair, unfair, right or wrong. I will have the coaches and players on my show as I always have to give listeners all sides to the stories.”

The show originates from its broadcast home inside the OnStar Studios in the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit and airs live from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on its flagship station. With the addition of Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave in the early afternoon time slot, here is how ESPN 100.9-FM’s weekday lineup will look:
